PROJECT: setting up a shelter for women.

Evarista Kajoh Foundation is in the process of starting a shelter for women in Abuja.

Below is the project description and cost.

PROJECT TITLE:

“Safe Arms Shelter”
A Restoration Centre for Abused and Stranded Young Women and Girls

1. INTRODUCTION

Abuse against young women and girls is a tragic and growing crisis. Many survivors are left physically, emotionally, and spiritually broken—without a safe place to turn. Safe Arms Shelter aims to be a haven of healing, restoration, and hope for these young survivors.

2. VISION STATEMENT

To create a safe, nurturing environment where abused young women and girls can recover, grow, and regain their dignity through love, care, and empowerment.

3. MISSION STATEMENT

To rescue, house, counsel, and rehabilitate young female survivors of abuse, equipping them with life skills, faith, and support to live independently and with purpose.

4. OBJECTIVES

Provide emergency shelter and basic needs to girls rescued from abusive environments

Offer trauma counseling, faith-based healing, and mentorship

Provide vocational and life skills training for self-sufficiency

Facilitate reintegration into families or independent living

Promote community awareness and advocacy against abuse


5. TARGET BENEFICIARIES

Girls and young women (ages 10–25) who are survivors of:

Domestic violence

Sexual abuse

Child marriage

Human trafficking

Homelessness due to abuse






6. CORE PROGRAMMES & SERVICES

Safe Accommodation (10–20 bed facility initially)

Meals, clothing, and hygiene supplies

Trauma counseling and group therapy

Faith-based mentorship and discipleship

Vocational training (tailoring, baking, crafts, computer skills)

Health care referrals and wellness sessions

Legal and reintegration support


7. IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

Phase 1: Set-Up (Months 1–3)

Register foundation

Secure shelter space (rented or donated)

Recruit staff and volunteers

Set up shelter structure and protocols

Phase 2: Pilot Operation (Months 4–6)

Admit 5–10 girls

Begin counseling and basic training

Monitor progress and gather feedback

Phase 3: Scale-Up (Months 7–12)

Expand capacity and services

Build more partnerships and funding

Launch awareness campaigns
