Evarista Kajoh Foundation helps indigent women, widows and single mothers grow their small businesses through skills training, scholarships, counseling, provision of small financial grants,
and loans depending on their specific needs.
SKILLS TRAINING
Through our sister subsidiary Omarista Services we started skills training in February 1st 2006 in Makurdi Benue state, Nigeria. Our aim was to provide practical life skills to girls and young women who were school drop outs, unschooled and abused women who had no sustainable means of livelihood.
Our Skills training include Cosmetology, Industrial Production, Cakes & Pastry making, Dressmaking, Interior & Exterior decorations, Bead crafts etc.
We carried out Skills trainings at our centre in Makurdi, in secondary Schools, Churches, orphanages etc.
We were engaged by international organizations to train girls and young women in Schools and I DP camps. Under the* Four Pillar Girls Project” by Family Health international FHi 360, we trained 300 girls in 10 schools in 4 Local government areas of Benue state in 2015.
We also trained 130 young women in 5 IDP camps in Guma local government area of Benue state on behalf of Achieving Health In Nigeria ANHi in Collaboration with Fhi360/ Global Fund in 2018. We trained women in Industrial Production & cosmetology in Daudu, Abagena and Gbajimba villages.
We also ran a Training of trainers TOT workshop for the Adult & Non formal education ANFE at their Skills centre in Makurdi in 2014. We did skills training for 45 LGA coordinators of ANFE in 23 LGAs for 6 months. They were equipped to step down the training at their Adult education centres at the LGAs.
Women Empowerment Programme WEF engaged our services to train 8 indigenous youths in Agila, Ado LGA as a means of settling agitated youths during the conflicts in Agila in 2012/ 2013.
The Macedonia Project also funded our skills training in Benue, Delta and FCT in 2020 & 2021.
PROVISION OF GRANTS
Through the support of partners and friends we have been able to provide seed money and materials for women to start their businesses. We supported women selling charcoal, grains, firewood, making snacks & local drinks, care services, haircare, dressmaking, chemicals for industrial products, catering services and farming.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS IN PRIMARY, SECONDARY & TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS.
We support children, teenagers and adolescents of widows, single mothers and also orphans to pay their school fees and in some cases stipend for those in tertiary institutions. Our support include part or full payment of school fees. Purchasing of textbooks and stationaries, and in some cases upkeep while in school.
In 2024 one of our beneficiaries Naomi Okujokwu graduated from the University of Agriculture Makurdi with a Second class upper in Fisheries.
Another beneficiary Saviour koragee finished his secondary school with a very good result and is pursuing his university admission in Makurdi, Benue state.
We have paid the fees of 14 children in primary schools, 2 in tertiary institutions and 3 in secondary Schools in 2024..
From the year 2011 to date we have been able to support over 40 students at all levels of their educational pursuit.
